At HICC we have a strong vision for supporting
mission both at home in the UK and abroad. Part of HICC's 3-fold
vision is to 'witness unto Christ' and we see mission as a fundamental
part of fulfilling this. Christ's commission to 'Go into all the
world and preach the gospel to every creature' in Mark 16 is central
to the call and cause of the church and critical to the outworking
of Jesus' command to 'love our neighbour as we love ourselves'.
NEPAL
Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world; a struggling
democracy that is just recovering from the destructive effects
of a 10-year Maoist insurgency. The church has taken root over
the past 50 years and having recently been declared a secular
state, Nepal is more ready than ever to hear the gospel.

Clive
and Andrea Thomas. They have worked with the International
Nepal Fellowship, a Christian health and development mission (www.inf.org),
in Nepal since 1995. Clive is a technical advisor and mentor to
Nepali staff. Andrea, previously responsible for INF's cross-cultural
orientation training, is now the Expat Personnel Administrator.
They enjoy building local relationships, 'gossiping the gospel'
and are advisors in their local Nepali church. Half of their time
is spent in the UK at All Nations Christian College, a leading
mission training centre (www.allnations.ac.uk).
They helped set up a 10 week course in cross-cultural mission
and are currently developing an online version. Their vision is
to make training more widely available to people involved in mission
and to apply their technical skills to the furtherance of God's
Kingdom at home and abroad.

EAST
AFRICA
Dr Liam Chapman. He came to London to study medicine in
1988 and was based at a China Inland Mission hostel in London
situated above the historical prayer room of Hudson Taylor the
pioneering missionary to China. In 2000 he founded The East African
Missionary Society (www.teamsonline.org)
based in Gulu, Northern Uganda. This area has suffered 20 years
of civil unrest. TEAMS works with local churches, ministries and
in prisons with evangelism, discipleship training and leadership
development. It has established several community development
projects including literacy, orphan care, and income generation
and widow support projects. It takes short-term mission teams
twice a year and seeks to pioneer integrated mission caring for
the whole person in spiritual, social and practical development.
Liam is married to Jean with two children Daniel and Elisha.
